In 1993, partners Lorne Tyczenski and Stephen Greenham founded
Sweet Obsession Cakes & Pastries on 16th Avenue in Vancouver's Kitsilano neighbourhood.

The pair each left other careers to follow Tyczenski's dream to become a full-time
pastry chef and open his own pastry shop and cafe. While Tyczenski was the
talent in the pastry shop, Greenham helped run the business and quickly became
an integral part of the creative team designing the fresh floral and sugared
fruit arrangements for Sweet Obsession's signature flans, tortes and wedding cakes.

Five years later, with a loyal following established for their pâtisserie, the two
opened Trafalgars Bistro a few doors down on the same block in 1997.
The retail portion of Sweet Obsession became part of the restaurant. In 2004,
Sweet Obsession expanded, doubled in size and moved the
retail counter and cafe back to its original location.

With more space of its own, Trafalgars Bistro was renovated
adding stylish new bar seating at the entrance. The restaurant's style is understated
and comfortable; marked by oak floors, leather banquettes and simple, yet elegant, chandeliers.

From the age of fifteen, Andrea began learning the ropes of the hospitality industry in her family’s restaurant business in Winnipeg. From casual to fine dining, her skill set developed as well as her passion for sincere, knowledgeable and approachable service.

Andrea’s career with Trafalgars & Sweet Obsession began in 2006 after stopping in for lunch while house hunting in the area. Within days she had dropped off her resume and entered the ranks as a server, assuming the role of Manager then General Manager in quick succession. With a background in Environmental Sciences & Education, Andrea has been able to marry all her passions into one great fit at Trafalgars & Sweet Obsession.
Encouraging connections between her team and guests, her goal is for every person seated in the dining room to feel as though they are being looked after by friends.

“Imagine being surrounded by your favourite people and all of your passions every day, it doesn’t even feel like work”.
